Around The Metropolitan Division

The New Jersey Devils beat the division leading Pittsburgh Penguins last night 2-1. The New York Rangers struggled to score against the Florida Panthers, but they pulled out a 2-1 shootout win against the Panthers last night. The New York Islanders had a great effort last night and beat the Boston Bruins 5-3 in Boston.

With a Carolina Hurricanes win last night, the Canes move past the Columbus Blue Jackets into  sixth place in the Metropolitan Division with 39 points in the standings. The Hurricanes trail the Philadelphia Flyers, who sit in third place, by five points. The New Jersey Devils (42 points) and New York Rangers (42 points) occupy the 4th and 5th spot in the Metropolitan Division.

The Carolina Hurricanes play two important Metropolitan Division games this week. They play in D.C. against the Washington Capitals on Thursday, and they play on Long Island on Saturday night against the New York Islanders.
