My Opinion: It obviously made sense a few weeks ago that the Hurricanes would be trying to trade Ruutu – he was playing awful and was not helping the team at all. But things have changed since he was put on the first line with Eric Staal and Jeff Skinner.

The trio has become a top line for the team and is the main catalyst for wins in recent games. The Canes probably still don’t want that $4.75 million cap hit, but at least the Finn is playing with value now.

With how the Hurricanes are playing recently, it doesn’t make sense to trade Ruutu, who has been a part of the improvement.
