Tuomo Ruutu’s play has excelled lately. Following a very slow start, he has been able to stick on the Carolina Hurricanes first line, and has been a very good asset to the Carolina Hurricanes lineup.
This is surprising. Tuomo Ruutu has made significant contributions to the team lately. What is also strange is that the Toronto Maple Leafs were reported to have very little interest in Ruutu just a week or two ago due to his salary. Obviously, they have changed their mind after seeing his improved play lately.
The Canucks are a new team to the Tuomo Ruutu trade rumors. They haven’t been rumored to have interest in the Finnish forward up to this point.
I think trading Tuomo Ruutu at this point would be a questionable decision, unless they get a significant amount in return for him, which they likely will not at this point. For example, if the Carolina Hurricanes were to be able to get a player like Jake Gardiner, that would be something to consider. He has been part of one of the league’s best lines as of late, and he has really turned his season around. I don’t see why the Carolina Hurricanes would trade him right now.
With more than a day until the beginning of the NHL’s holiday trade freeze, the Carolina Hurricanes have a big decision to make. Will they be pressured by other teams to make a deal today, or will they stay patient and wait until December 27th, the end of the trade freeze, to make a deal?
