Charlotte Checkers Recap
The Checkers have done something lately that was originally hard to do – win three games in a row as they beat the Norfolk Admirals, 4-3, yesterday in overtime.
With goals from Beau Schmitz and Zach Boychuk in the first period, the Checkers took a 2-0 lead into intermission. The Admirals scored twice in the second period before Justin Shugg scored his seventh of the year to give Charlotte the lead again.
Three minutes into the third period, Emerson Etem scored for Norfolk, which sent the game into overtime. Aaron Palushaj scored with 46 seconds left in the extra stanza to give the Checkers’ a three-game winning streak.
Michal Jordan had two assists, while John Muse earned his third win in a row with 36 saves.
The San Antonio Rampage also played yesterday and earned a win, which keeps the Checkers in 13th place in the West. However, the team has two games in hand on the Rampage.
The Checkers now have off until Thursday, like the Hurricanes, when they take on the Admirals again.
