Michael Dal Colle is a big two-way forward who can do it all. The Ontario native can make plays with and without the puck on his stick. He has the skill to be a lethal scorer, and he has the size to be able to drive the net and screen a goalie. He is a very good skater for his size. He has great balance, and has very good lower-body strength.

Dal Colle has had a break out year for the Oshawa Generals of the OHL. After a good rookie season, he has exploded with 56 points (23 goals, 33 assists) in 35 games so far in his second year with the Generals.

TSN’s Director of Scouting Craig Button is also impressed with Michael Dal Colle’s game.

“Michael has the abilities to impact the game in multiple ways. Very good skater with speed and power and with his size, is the type of player who can ‘go where he wants.’ Smart and can make plays and has good puck skills in passing and shooting. Appears to be very comfortable on the wing and can create advantages for the team along the boards, at the net and with his skill. Players with these attributes are coveted.”

The big forward is expected to be a top-five pick in the 2014 NHL Draft. This shouldn’t be a surprise when you consider the kind of impact that he has had on the Oshawa Generals and the OHL. The team that drafts Dal Colle will get a big, scoring forward that won’t let up on defense. He is definitely one of the best forwards in the 2014 NHL Draft class.

Michael Dal Colle could end up being a top-six forward in the NHL. If he continues to elevate his game, he could even be a first line player on an NHL roster.

Patrick Marleau of the San Jose Sharks is a bigger player at 6’2″ 220 lbs. He will not blow you away his his finesse, but his size allows him to do a lot of things on the ice. He has the ability to power his way to the net, and he is a good net front presence. Dal Colle is a similar type of player. They are both good two-way forwards who use their size and speed to put points on the board.
