Some good news on the injury front came in from the Carolina Hurricanes today. Carolina Hurricanes forward Alex Semin has been taken off Injury Reserve today, and he will play in Calgary on Thursday night.
Alex Semin will start on the third line with Riley Nash and Jiri Tlusty. He definitely could move up the lineup if he plays well. Putting him on the third line is probably the right call. Eric Staal, Jeff Skinner and Tuomo Ruutu have been playing very well together on the Carolina Hurricanes first line.
Alex Semin will bring finesse to the Carolina Hurricanes. He will also help the Carolina Hurricanes struggling power play unit. Alex Semin missed 12 games after suffering a concussion on November 16th. He was hit up high by St. Louis Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo. It was a clean hit by Pietrangelo. Semin came back into the game after being tested, but he then left again after a few shifts and did not return.
The Carolina Hurricanes went 5-5-2 with Alex Semin out of the lineup. The Carolina Hurricanes have also found the offense with Semin out of the lineup, so hopefully Semin will help an offense that’s already firing on all cylinders. Alex Semin has 9 points (3 goals, 6 assists) in 20 games played this year.
Anton Khudobin is getting closer and closer to returning. We’ve been saying that for weeks now, but it now seems like he will be in the Carolina Hurricanes lineup soon. When he does return, there will be a lot of trade speculation surrounding all the Carolina Hurricanes goalies, mainly Justin Peters and Anton Khudobin. Justin Peters has played extremely well, so it could be Anton Khudobin who gets involved in a trade, but we will see what happens over the coming weeks.
Brett Bellemore is listed as day-to-day. Brett Bellemore has started practicing with the team, so he is close to returning to the Carolina Hurricanes blue line. Brett Bellemore suffered a concussion against the Washington Capitals on December 3rd.
Drayson Bowman suffered a lower-body-injury on December 5th against the Nashville Predators, but he will be in the lineup as the Canes take on the Calgary Flames on Thursday night.
Mike Komisarek was put on IR on December 6th with a lower-body-injury. He suffered the injury on December 5th against the Nashville Predators.
