For the past few years, the Carolina Hurricanes’ defense has been a point of criticsm for pundits and rightfully so. With players like Joe Corvo, Bobby Sanguinetti, Jaroslav Spacek and Tomas Kaberle, it’s hard to argue that the Canes defense has been as strong as other teams.

This season, the Hurricanes defense is looking strong. It’s helped win games against NHL powerhouses like the Chicago Blackhawks and San Jose Sharks, but this season isn’t the only one where the Canes could have a ton of depth and skill at the position.

Carolina’s prospects at defense have improved mightily and some have the potential to be NHL players someday.

Besides prospects the team also has some young d-men to build around in the future with Justin Faulk, Andrej Sekera, Ryan Murphy and Brett Bellemore.
