Charlotte Checkers Sign Rob Madore

After granting Rick DiPietro a release from his tryout contract, the Checkers needed another goalie and found the answer by looking in the past. Charlotte signed Rob Madore, who was the team’s starter last season in the playoffs with Justin Peters in the NHL.

Madore was playing this season with the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL and posted a 7-3-0 record.

Checkers Preview

The Checkers will play the Norfolk Admirals tonight at 7 ET. The team ended a seven-game losing streak Saturday, before falling again on Sunday.

However, the team’s scorers are starting to play better as Mark Flood and Victor Rask have put up respectable numbers over the past few games. Besides those two, the Checkers need Chris Terry and Zach Boychuk to start contributing more if they want to string some wins together.
