Win Over Ottawa Is The Biggest win Of The Season For The Carolina Hurricanes

The Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Ottawa Senators on Sunday night. The final score was 4-1, and it featured great play from Eric Staal, Tuomo Ruutu, Cam Ward , and Justin Faulk. This may be the biggest win so far this season for the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Carolina Hurricanes hadn’t won a game by more than one goal prior to Sunday. This could be a huge confidence booster for the team now that they can see just how good they can be in all areas for a full 60 minutes. They haven’t shown that they can put a great offensive effort with a strong defensive effort much this year. They did that against the Senators.

Big time players like Eric Staal, Justin Faulk, and Cam Ward had fantastic games. Staal had his best game all year, and he really developed chemistry with Tuomo Ruutu. Eric Staal is THE most important player on the Carolina Hurricanes roster. As he goes, the Hurricanes go. If he doesn’t do well, the Carolina Hurricanes don’t do well, and vice versa. He now has eight points (3 goals, 5 assists) in his past six games, and is on a six-game point streak.

Cam Ward played what I thought was one of his best games in a long time. It is safe to say that he is healthy, and that he is playing at an elite level right now. If he keeps going like this, he could get on Team Canada. Justin Faulk played a great offensive game as well, as he posted two assists against the Sens.

This was also a big game for Tuomo Ruutu. He played two very good games this weekend in Boston and against the Senators. He got back to the front of the net, and he created a lot of scoring chances with Eric Staal on his line.

The Carolina Hurricanes provided their best offensive game on Sunday night. They followed it up with solid defense and elite goaltending. If the Canes can gain momentum off of that game and start piling wins together, that could turn out to be the biggest win of the year for the Carolina Hurricanes.
