Charlotte Checkers Recap
A day after ending a seven-game losing streak and earning their first win in the month of November, the Checkers fell to the Rockford Ice Hogs by a 4-3 score.
The Ice Hogs scored the first two goals of the game before Keegan Lowe scored his first career AHL goal and Mark Flood added another in the second period to tie the game at two.
But less than nine minutes into the third, the Ice Hogs regained the two-goal lead. Recent trade acquisition Philippe Cornet scored his first as a Checker before the game to bring the game within one, but Charlotte could not force overtime.
Rick DiPietro made 26 saves on 30 shots, while Victor Rask and Flood both had two-point nights.
It was nice to see some of the more prominent weapons score for the Checkers, but the team could not earn two wins in a row and are back where they were at the beginning of the week.
The Checkers next play on Wednesday against the Norfolk Admirals.
