Sunday Carolina Hurricanes Report

Carolina Hurricanes News

  • The Hurricanes fell to the Bruins in overtime yesterday afternoon. The recap can be found here.
  • Why the Canes should not be pursuing John-Michael Liles (Cardiac Cane)
  • Andrew Luistro looks at the journey of Brett Bellemore and the player he has become (The Hockey Writers)
  • Michael Peckerar explains why it’s a bad idea for the Hurricanes to carry three goalies (Rant Sports)

My Opinion: This is pretty obvious. There’s a reason why teams do not carry three goalies and the reason is because it never works. With three goalies, each will have to take turns in practices and getting all three in game play is difficult to do.

Of course, there’s reason for the Canes to do this – Justin Peters has been great and risking him on waivers doesn’t make sense.

This issue has been beaten to death over the past week and a half, but it’s best for the Hurricanes and Peters, if they trade him. The Canes will get some sort of return, while Peters will get a shot at becoming an NHL starter.

It may not make the most sense for the Hurricanes in terms of asset management, but neither does keeping three goalies on the roster.
