Depth is the name of the game for the Blues. They’re stacked in all three positions, which has led to their success over the past few seasons.
A usual problem for the team is a lack of an elite game-changing forward in their ranks, but Alex Steen has grown into that role early into the season, leading the league in goals scored.
With the Blues tremendous defensive depth, it will be difficult for all of the Hurricanes’ lines. They will have to outwork the defensemen, which could be the problem given the team’s recent schedule.
The Canes played last night in Raleigh, running late into a shootout, then had to fly to St. Louis for the game tonight. The players will be gassed by the end of this game, so getting an early lead will be important for the Canes.
It may be an individual performance like those that pushes the Hurricanes to another win.
A recap will be posted after the game.
