Charlotte Checkers Recap

Rick DiPietro made his first appearance in a Checkers jersey, losing to the Grand Rapids Griffins, 5-2. Aaron Palushaj scored the first goal of the game, but the Griffins tied it up about 30 seconds later.

The team ended up scoring four straight goals before Victor Rask scored the last goal for the Checkers. Zach Boychuk, Chris Terry and Danny Biega all recorded an assist. DiPietro did have an especially strong game on the stat sheet, only making 25 saves on 29 shots.

A full recap can be found here on the Checker’s website.

The Checkers will be able to bounce back tomorrow when they play the Rockford Ice Hogs. The two played last Saturday with the Ice Hogs winning in a shootout, 2-1. It’s likely that John Muse will be in net for Charlotte.
