Injury updates flew in today from Canes practice. Khudobin has not returned to practice yet, Cam Ward and Justin Peters man the nets today in practice. Kirk Muller suspects Anton Khudobin will be out for the next week or two, so it appears he will not be available for the back to back in Minnesota and Colorado.
It now appears that Justin Peters may get a start, likely in Colorado on Friday night. If Cam Ward plays a marvelous game in Minnesota, he may get both games in the back to back. He has played well in his career in back to back sets, but they might not want to over play Cam at this point in the season.
It looks like Elias Lindholm and Tim Gleason will both be available for Thursday’s game in Minnesota. They are both practicing, and Tim Gleason will get his final test today to see if he will be medically cleared to play. He said he feels good, so expect him to play on Thursday with an “A” on his chest.
According to Eklund on HockeyBuzz, the Hurricanes may have some interest in Nail Yakupov from the Edmonton Oilers. It doesn’t go into to much detail about it, but you can find that article here.
I don’t see this happening. The Hurricanes can’t really give up anything at this point to get him. Justin Faulk could be one of the players that would have to go in order to get a deal like that done, but that would be a very very bad decision for the franchise, and Jim Rutherford knows that. You never know, a deal could get done, but it seems unlikely as of now. If more information comes out on that, we will let you know.
