There’s a reason why the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup last season and it’s obvious looking at their lineup. They have tremendous depth along with some star players at every position.

But they can be beaten. The Canes will have to be opportunistic in the game and Corey Crawford, if in net, is known to make some mistakes. The Hurricanes will have to expose those mistakes and take advantage of it.

Being the home team helps also as Kirk Muller will be able to use the lines he wants against the Blackhawks. Expect Jordan Staal out against Jonathan Toew’s line often tonight.

As for the Hurricanes, the team has spent a lot of time practicing the power-play which is great to hear because it has looked bad in the first six games so far. Getting it figured out tonight would be huge.

Muller also shuffled the lines a bit, so the players may have to work out on some chemistry issues in the early going.

After this game, the Hurricanes embark on a four-game, nine-day road trip, so getting a win should build confidence before the tough stretch of games.
