This Coyotes team is strong on defense and goaltending, but a little weak on offense. However, the team has found a way to win games in the past and through this season, so don’t take Phoenix lightly.
The first line is the most dangerous, while the bottom six is designed for gritty defensive play. The Coyotes last played Friday, beating the Flyers by a score of 2-1.
The Canes will have to use their superior offensive depth to score goals. Nathan Gerbe and Jeff Skinner have supplied that offense through the first five games, but it would be nice to see Jordan Staal and/or Riley Nash get on the board.
Also Mike Smith, who is the likely starter after Thomas Greiss took on the Flyers, enjoys playing the puck. Sometimes he’ll make a mistake, but usually is solid at passing to his defensemen.
The Hurricanes will have to use dump-ins effectively to keep the puck away from the stick-handling goalie.
A recap will be posted after the game.
