The Carolina Hurricanes continue to make roster trims putting Chris Terry on waivers today with the purpose of sending him to the Charlotte Checkers.
Terry had a strong training camp, making it farther than most would have predicted. Hes had a successful AHL career, but has never been able to translate it in the NHL. He could be a valuable callup this season, especially with Zac Dalpe no longer in the organization.
With Terry waived, the Canes have 13 forwards, nine defensemen and two goalies left on the roster. 23-man rosters have to be completed by Monday at 5 p.m. ET, so the team will have to make one more cut.
There’s also the possibilty of signing Radek Dvorak, which would mean two players would have to be cut.
It’s likely Brett Sutter has made the team as the center would have to pass through waivers to rejoin the Checkers.
Jim Rutherford told Chip Alexander this today:
On opening-day roster, Rutherford indicated Canes may wait until after Monday practice to finalize.

So it’s likely we won’t see anymore cuts until tomorrow. But there’s also the possibilty of a Dvorak signing which could come sooner.
