Friday Hurricanes Report

Hurricanes at Blue Jackets Recap

If Nathan Gerbe didn’t lock down a spot with the Hurricanes before last night’s game, he’s on the team now after scoring two goals to lead the Canes to a 2-1 lead over the Blue Jackets.

The Jackets started off the scoring as Nikita Nikitin scored in the first period. In the second, Gerbe tied the game and with less than one minute left in regulation, he scored again to win the game for the Canes. Patrick Dwyer and Jordan Staal assisted on the goal.

Cam Ward also had a strong game in net, recording 25 saves on 26 shots.

Besides earning the win, this game was special as the Hurricanes fought back from a deficit to end up on top. Last season, there was too little of this for the team to be competitive.
