Preseason Game #3: Carolina Hurricanes vs. Montreal Canadiens

The Carolina Hurricanes will look for their first prseason win in their game tonight against the Montreal Canadiens in Quebec City at 7:30 p.m. ET. Again there will be no local television broadcast, but the game can be listened to on 99.9 FM The Fan or by this link.

This is the first game of a double game series that the two teams will play at a neutral arena in Quebec City. The Canes will be the “home” team tonight and the away team tomorrow night.

The Hurricanes have not announced their lineup yet, but expect Cam Ward in net. Coach Kirk Muller plans on giving Ward four starts this preseason and with yesterday off, he should be ready for another game.

As for the forwards and defensemen, we should see a similar lineup to the first game against the Blue Jackets. Tuomo Ruutu and Elias Lindholm have yet to play a game, so maybe we’ll see them in action.

Canadiens Lineup

Collberg – Desharnais – Pacioretty

Prust – Galchenyuk – Thomas

Bournival  – Holland – McCarron

Tarnasky – Dumont – Blunden

Gorges – Subban

Tinordi – Pateryn

Dietz – Nygren

The Canadiens are playing a more usual preseason lineup with a few NHL regulars with roster candidates and prospects mixed in.

On offense, David Desharnais and Alex Galchenyuk are the ones to watch out for, while Josh Gorges and P.K. Subban is a legitimate top pairing. Backup Peter Budaj will start the game for Montreal.

The game recap can be found in tomorrow’s Hurricanes Report.
