Thursday Hurricanes Report With Game Recap

Hurricanes vs. Blue Jackets Recap

Things didn’t go as well as the Canes would have liked in the first preseason game, as the team dropped the contest 5-4.

Cam Ward played in his first game since March, but gave up five goals on 31 shots. Don’t look into the performance too much, Ward was playing behind a weak defense and it was his first game in nearly seven months.

What could be discerning is that the Canes led, 4-2, in the second period. It may only be preseason, but it’s never good to give up leads like that.

Alexander Semin led the Hurricanes with two goals, while Eric Staal and Jeremy Welsh scored the other two. Michal Jordan and Jay Harrison had two assists.

The Canes play the Buffalo Sabres tonight at 7 p.m. ET. A preview will be poster later today.
