Elias Lindholm Will Be Hurricanes' X-Factor

Going into the 2013-14 season, the Carolina Hurricanes will again be looking for depth scoring from the offense.

The Jiri Tlusty-Eric Staal-Alexander Semin line will contribute most of the offense, like last season, but the team will need more secondary scoring if they want to make the playoffs.

Jordan Staal and Tuomo Ruutu will be counted on for defensive play and timely scoring, but will not be the go-to line after the first line. The line that should score more will the third line with Elias Lindholm  and Jeff Skinner.

Lindholm, at the age of 18, will be the Hurricanes X-Factor this season in providing depth scoring and a strong all-around play.

Jordan Staal tried to provide scoring last season, but things did not go as planned. This year, the team will turn to its young forward to score when the first line cannot.

Lindholm is most known for his passing, and with Skinner on his line, the Sweden native will have the perfect sniper to dish the puck to.

Another positive Lindholm could bring is helping Skinner to recapture his scoring pace from his rookie season. Of course, this is something the 21-year-old should be doing himself, but Lindholm could help Skinner along the way.

I realize that Lindholm is only 18 and in his rookie season and expecting a lot from him is not fair, but I also believe he can be a strong player for the Canes that can help turn the recent downfall around.
