Just like the free agent additions, the Charlotte Checkers will have a decent amount of rookies that could make an impact on their team for next season.
The majority of the rookies are defensemen that also have the potential of making the Carolina Hurricanes roster sometime in the future.
Here are the rookies joining the Checkers this season:
Offense: The biggest name that could play for the Checkers on offense is Victor Rask. He had a great junior career and has a chance of making the Canes roster. However, if he doesn’t make the team, he’ll be an impact player for the Checkers playing the offensive and defensive side of the puck.
Brendan Woods will be joining the Checkers after two years at the University of Wisconsin. Woods is not much of a scorer, but could be an energy/defensive player on the lower lines.
Defense: The Checkers defense will feature a good amount of prospects ranked in the Hurricanes top 10 prospects including Danny Biega, Austin Levi and Keegan Lowe. But most notably Ryan Murphy will be on the team if he does not make the Canes.
Biega, Levi and Lowe are all defensive defenseman that will attempt to translate their games to pro from juniors while working on their offensive play.
The group should have a big impact on the team and possibly on the Hurricanes in a few seasons.
