  • Yesterday’s blog on the Washington Capitals can be found here
  • Tim Wallace has signed with a club in Sweden (NBC Sports)
  • Corey Sznajder ranks Brock McGinn 14th in his Top 25 Under 25 (Shutdown Line)
  • Corey also considers if the Canes’ roster have improved (Shutdown Line)

My Opinion: It’s a little hard to tell if the offense will be better considering how many holes there are and who will fill them, but right now the offense, I believe, is a tad better. Having Tuomo Ruutu for a whole season will help and Elias Lindholm should be a big upgrade on the third line. Hopefully the bottom six will be solved by the players in the system.

On defense, Andrej Sekera will help the top four and I disagree with Corey. I believe Mike Komisarek will be better than any of the three defensemen the Canes lost this summer. Mark Flood was a good depth signing also.

But goaltending is where the Hurricanes have improved the most with Anton Khudobin being signed.
