Thursday Hurricanes Report

Carolina Hurricanes News

  • Corey Sznajder ranks Erik Karlsson number 20 in his Top 25 Under 25 (Shutdown Line)
  • Chapin Landvogt looks at Sweden’s 2013 NHL draft, which includes Canes’ first pick Elias Lindholm (Hockey’s Future)
  • John Kreiser named Jeff Skinner one of his ten candidates for a bounce-back season in 2013-14 (NHL.com)

My Opinion: Skinner needs a bounce-back season after two less-than-stellar years after his rookie season. He’ll most likely play with Elias Lindholm and a mystery winger that will be decided before the season starts, so that could fuel his game.

On the other hand, I believe some of Skinner’s problems last year was moving away from Eric Staal and to his brother, Jordan, who has less offensive capability. Obviously this is something he will have to adjust to for the next few years.

Lindholm is a great playmaker and can help Skinner elevate his game with more skill in the offensive end. We’ll see what happens next season, but Skinner’s a good candidate for a break-out year.
