Monday Hurricanes Report

Carolina Hurricanes News

  • Brody Sutter was ranked #23 in Corey Sznajder’s Top 25 Under 25 (Shutdown Line)

My Opinion: Sutter could surprise some and fight for a fourth-line spot this season. He’s big at 6-5 and can play the penalty kill, which always important in role players.

I’m sure the Canes aren’t expecting too much from him and are happy with his development so far.

  • Jared Crozier looks at one player that exceeded expectations last year and one that  needs to climb next season (SenShot)

My Opinion: Alexander Semin had a great year last season, but I wouldn’t be too worried about him next year. He’s been a polarizing player in his career, but is more mature than he ever was before. I also believe the media has played a small part in blowing up the doubts in Semin.

A better choice may have been Jiri Tlusty, who had a career season and will now have more attention from other team’s defensemen.

I agree with Jared’s opinion on Cam Ward. I believe not receiving an invite from Team Canada will fuel him next season. Of course, there will also be concerns about coming back from the knee injury, but he’s had plenty of time for rehab and will work on it in training camp and preseason.
