- Matt Karash considers the possibility that the free agent market ran right past Jim Rutehrford (HockeyBuzz)
My Opinion: Before free agency started, Rutherford said he would like to get bigger and stronger in the bottom six. Has that happened? Not at all and it was a main concern for the team.
Instead the bottom six will have five open spots with a good amount of players fighting for them. The hope is that gritty players like Jeremy Welsh and Brody Sutter will step up and take one of those spots.
It’s obviously nice to have competition, but right now the Canes have a lot of players with very little experience fighting for role-playing spots that could be better utilized by veteran players.
