Carolina Hurricanes News

  • Yesterday’s blog on which defensemen and goaltenders could play in the Olympics can be found here
  • A profile of Ryan Murphy (Checkers’ Website)
  • Corey Sznajder prepares his Top 25 Under 25 list with just missed and players that won’t be returning from last year’s list (Shutdown Line)

My Opinion: The main surprise for me is that Jared Staal will not be on the list. He’s not going to be a top-line talent by any means, but he definitely has the opportunity to make the Canes roster in the near future and make a small impact.

The other players that won’t be on the list makes sense to me. Some like Mike Murphy have very little potential and others like Evgenii Dadanov do not appear to be returning to the NHL any time soon.

At first I thought that Jacob Slavin deserved to be on the list, but after reading Corey’s thoughts, it makes sense. He is 19-years-old, an age of some sophomore players in college, while he’s still playing in the USHL.
