Wednesday Hurricanes Report

Carolina Hurricanes News

  • The Canes re-signed Jared Staal to a one-year deal yesterday (Cardiac Cane)
  • You can watch the Hurricanes Development Camp at the teams’ website (hurricanes.nhl.com)
  • Matt Karash gives his expectations for Elias Lindholm for this season and the future (HockeyBuzz)

My Opinion: The expectations for Lindholm by Matt are fair. The first quarter of the season will be a learning experience before Lindholm should expect to turn things offensively and become more of a force defensively.

I’ll also say that there’s a chance the 18-year-old slows down near the end of the season. He only played 48 games last season and may get winded after the wear and tear of an 82-game NHL season.

The comparison to Henrik Zetterberg in the future is the best possible scenario for the Canes. Zetterberg was a two-way force and still a big presence on the Detroit Red Wings’ roster. He was also part of the cornerstone that led to the Red Wings’ cup runs in 2008 and 2009.
