Gordon is the epitome a fourth-line center. He’s big, he wins face-offs and he’s great defensively. He can also play any three offensive positions and is a leader in the locker room.
The 29-year-old can also penalty kill, which would give more prominent players like the Staal brothers a rest.
His offense is not prominent, although he did record 14 points with the Coyotes this season. Because of this, he would be a strictly fourth-line player and could not move up the line-up in case of an injury.
Though he may not be a big name, Gordon will attract attention on the free agent market. He made $1.325 million last season and will receive around the same amount.
It may be a high price to pay for a bottom-line center, but there’s no one better than Boyd Gordon.
