Alex Goligoski

  • Pros: The former Pittsburgh Penguin turned into a top-pairing defenseman when he was traded to the Dallas Stars due to his strong offensive play. Besides offense, Goligoski can also hit, which would be a nice change to a softer ‘D’ corps on the Canes. Goligoski is also still young at 27-years-old.
  • Cons: Similar to Coburn, Goligoski struggled mightily last season and was a healthy scratch at times. His defensive play is not as strong as his offensive, which is really what the Hurricanes need. However, with all of these factors Goligoski could be a cheap pick-up in a trade.
