Tuesday Hurricanes Report

  • Yesterday’s profile of Phil Di Giuseppe can be found here
  • The Checkers will be unveiling new uniforms also (Checkers’ Website)
  • Matt Karash evaluates Jeff Skinner’s season at HockeyBuzz

My Opinion: Matt is a little rough on Skinner, but he makes his point why, with his $6 million salary. I agree that it’s possible that Skinner could be moved this year to improve the defense and that his defensive game needs work. If he is still with the Canes next season, Skinner will have to adjust to his line-mates better, whether that’s Jordan Staal or someone else. Next season will be a huge one for the 21-year-old.

  • Corey Sznajdar gives an evaluation of Justin Peters (Shut Down Line)

My Opinion: I’ve said before that Peters has struggled as a backup goalie for the Hurricanes, playing much better in the AHL and in consecutive games. Along with Corey, I think the Canes and Peters should move on from each other and accept that him being in Carolina is not the best option for either side.
