Monday Hurricanes Report

  • Free agent defensemen the Hurricanes should target this summer (Bleacher Report)

My Opinion: Any of Rob Scuderi, Andrew Ference or Douglas Murray would be a huge addition to the Canes’ blue line. Toni Lydman should be a backup option if one of those three does not work out as the Finnish defenseman is 36-years-old and would not fit into the future at all. The Canes should stay away from Ron Hainsey. He will most likely demannd around $4 million a season and is more of an offensive defenseman, rather than defensive.

My Opinion: I agree with what Corey is saying. That goaltending was not the problem after Ward was injured, it was more of the total team falling apart that led to them missing the playoffs. Ward may not have had one of his best years, but before his injury, he did lead the Canes to the top of the Southeast Division. Next year should be a much better one for Ward.
