Eric Staal Injured At World Championships

Eric Staal had to leave Canada’s game against Sweden in the quarterfinals of the World Championships, after he was involved in a knee-on-knee incident with Alex Edler.

Staal was helped off the ice by trainers and could not put any weight on the knee. Edler was assessed a five minute penalty and a game misconduct on the play. It’s also likely that Edler could face a suspension.

Staal, is coming back to Raleigh tomorrow to undergo an MRI on Saturday according to Chip Alexander. No info has been released on the injury, but things did not look good for Staal, who was writhing on the ice after the collision.
