Yesterday’s Playoff Games

  • The New York Islanders were leading in the third period by one goal in their game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, but a Paul Martin shot was deflected by the stick of Frans Nielsen to tie the game and send it into overtime. Early in Brooks Orpik won the series for the Pens with a shot from the point that found its way past Evgeni Nabokov. Former Cane Brandon Sutter had a goal and an assist in the series, while Jussi Jokinen had two assists, but was a healthy scratch in the final two games of the series.
