Preview: Charlotte Checkers Look for Win #6

As the Charlotte Checkers head into tonight’s game they look to instill a new franchise record as they set their sights on winning their sixth game in a row.  They are set to host the Grand Rapids Griffins for the second time this season.  The last meeting between these two was on October 26, the Checkers skating away with a 6-4 victory.  Their current streak has come without some of their top players, a fate they must face tonight as well.

Unfortunately the Checkers will be without eleven of their top twelve skaters as Zac Dalpe, Riley Nash and Brett Sutter got the call from the Hurricanes.  The front runner for the Checkers now is Chris Terry, leading the pack with 24 points on the season.  Krueger and Jordan behind him with 9 a piece.

Justin Peters is expected to be in net after playing back up to newcomer John Muse in Sunday’s event.  Peters is looking to pick up his fourth consecutive victory in as many starts.

Know Thy Enemy:

The Checkers won’t be the only team without some of their key players as the Griffins lost Brian Lashoff and Brendan Smith to the Detroit Red Wings.  Lashoff contributed 6 points in 35 games with the Grand Rapids this season. In 160 games total he has 11 goals and 24 assists.

Brendan Smith has 5 goals and 15 assists in 32 games this season, part of the 86 point total in 152 games with the Griffins overall.

Face off is at 7pm and the Checkers are expected to be without Gragnani, Samson, Blanchard and Rissanen who are all sideline with injuries.
