Checkers Head to San Antonio

Today the Charlotte Checkers take on the San Antonio Rampage for their third and final game of the weekend.  They are looking to extend their three-game win streak and forget the beginning of December.

The Checkers have met up with the Rampage two time already this season, winning both games in hopes of capturing a third. If the Checkers are able to win tonight against the Rampage it will instill their longest streak of the season.  After a rocky ten-game homestead the Checkers are finally starting to get back on the right track in winning against one of the best teams in the league, the Houston Aeros.

“We’re getting back to the way we were when we were winning,” said rookie forward Jeremy Welsh, who had a goal and an assist on Saturday.(via Checkers.com)

Tonight’s match should be fairly even as both teams are battling it out in their third game in three nights.  The Rampage showed up late last night and matched with the late flight for the Checkers, the playing field should be quite level.

The rotation of the goalies is expected tonight leading tot he assumption that Dan Ellis will be in net tonight against the Rampage coming off of a shutout win against the Aeros Friday evening.  According to the Checkers website, defenseman Rasmus Rissanen could make his return from his upper body injury.

Face off is at 5:30pm and can be heard online or seen on AHL Live.
