Charlotte Checkers Go Head-to-Head With Houston

Tonight the Charlotte Checkers take on the Houston Aeros to kick off their three-in-three weekend.

The Checkers are looking to build off of a much needed win against the Milwaukee Admirals on Tuesday.  The team came out in the first period with momentum that built up and carried them through the game.  Their confidence and never back down attitude came through and provided them with the two points they needed to stay afloat in the Division standings.  They are looking to hold off the Aeros, who have won their last 7 of 8 games, who threaten to take the South Division lead from them as they trail one point behind Charlotte.

Zach Boychuk and Justin Faulk lead the way offensively for the Checkers as each  have 20 points for the Checkers.  Both Boychuk and Drayson Bowman are among the league’s top goal scorers this season with 13 a piece.

Tonight’s game is at 7:00pm and can be seen on AHL live or heard on ESPN730.  Dan Ellis is expected to be in goal after Justin Peters took on the Admirals in Tuesday’s campaign, but no official word has been stated. The rotation between Shugg and Samson is also going to be a game-time decision as to who will be in and who will be a healthy scratch.
