CBA? Wake Me When It's Over

I was talking to a twitter friend the other day, @lgc_com, who said she “would rather have bamboo pushed up her finger nails than talk about the CBA”.  That is a little too extreme for me. I told her I would rather have to watch the Real Housewives of wherever, than deal with all of this mess. Anyone who went through the lockout/cancellation of the 2004/2005 season knows what I’m talking about. I was one of those people who followed every article, every rumor, every post on message boards that had anything to do with the lockout. I was so addicted, that I book marked Eklund’s website and would visit it everyday.  I was actually believing the things he was saying. I needed an intervention of some kind. It turned out to be a total waste of time. Well to paraphrase The Who, I won’t be fooled again. Don Fehr and Gary Bettman get three more days from me.

Both men  meet today in Toronto, and by Friday we should have a much better idea of what Sept. 15th holds. If they make progress, I’ll get my season tickets out and start to divide them up by dates (I’m kinda anal when it comes to tickets). If there is no progress, I’ll put them in the drawer and the Canes can send an e-mail telling me when the season starts. No need for Gary Bettman to talk about the “fans”. We don’t matter now. We’ll matter when you want everyone’s business. If the season does not start on time, there will be no need to put “THANK YOU FANS’ on the ice either. As for the players, I know this is about their paychecks. I would fight if my boss wanted me to give back salary at a time the business was at an all-time high, in popularity and financially.

So by Friday I should know if it is Camp Brind’Amour in September or The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. What I know for sure is that it WON”T BE EKLUND.
