JR Says No and Loses Nash

Columbus Blue Jackets’ GM, Scott Howson, allegedly asked for Jeff Skinner in recent Rick Nash trade talks. Even if this were 100% true, there is no way on God’s green, Carolina earth the Canes would hand over Skinner right now. My wrath alone should instill a nightmare of a fear in every general manager.

So, (reportedly) Jim Rutherford pulls a Cam Ward and says, “No!” It officially put us out of the running for Nash, which at this point, doesn’t surprise me at all. I would have liked to have the talented veteran in Raleigh, but now we concentrate on the gaps moving forward. I certainly still have concerns.

Does the return of Joe Corvo really improve defense after losing Bryan Allen and Jaro Spacek? Does keeping Justin Peters solve the crease problems in Raleigh? Will we ever see Brian Boucher before a Canes’ net again? Wait, have I seen him at all? Oh yeah, there was that one game in November 2011. I’m mostly kidding here and wish Bouch a speedy recovery.

Let’s hear from you Caniacs? What are your biggest concerns moving into the 2012-13 season?
