Friday Top Five: Tuomo Ruutu Goals

Ruutu Smash! (Photo: Steve Mitchell-US PRESSWIRE)

Going into this offseason, one of the goals was to resign a few key unrestricted free agents including Tim Gleason and Tuomo Ruutu. Luckily for Caniacs, Ruutu was signed to a four-year contract extension on February 22nd. Playing 72 games this season, Ruutu was able to notch 34 points (18G, 16A) for the Hurricanes. After being fifth on the team in scoring in 2011-12, Ruutu will look to improve his scoring touch playing along Eric Staal in the 2012-13 season. Despite having his lowest numbers as a Hurricane, Tuomo Ruutu was still able to produce some memorable goals:

Against the Sens (10/25/11):

Against the Penguins (11/12/11):

Against the Sens again — this time, an overtime winner (12/23/11):

Versus the Lightning (1/12/12):

The highlight reel one of the season against the Ducks (2/8/12):

Topics: Tim Gleason, Tuomo Ruutu
