Friday Top Five: Eric Staal Goals of 2011-12 Season

Today’s Top Five revolves around the Hurricanes captain, Eric Staal. Staal certainly had his struggles at the beginning of the year under Paul Maurice, where he had 36 points (11G, 25A) and a -23 in 51 games before the All-Star game. After the All-Star game (and after hiring Kirk Muller), Staal turned his game around, registering 34 points (13G, 21A) and a +3 in 31 games. If Staal can have a good early part of the season under Muller and the coaching staff, he could have his best year since he recorded 82 points during the 2007-08 campaign. A lot will depend on his line mates and what happens as far as free agency and trades over the next couple of months. We’ll get to that later. Until then, enjoy the top five goals from captain Staal from this past season:

Against the Washington Capitals (10/8/2011):

In overtime against the Toronto Maple Leafs (12/29/2011):

Against the Washington Capitals (2/20/2012):

Against the Winnipeg Jets – the “Jordan’s better” game (3/18/2012):

Against the Jets (again) (3/30/2012):
