Zach Boychuk versus Mike Murphy: Who Does It Better?

Now I know what you’re thinking, so get your head out of the gutter. When have you known me to write an inappropriate post? Er, nevermind…

The Charlotte Checkers are git’r done this season on and off the ice. On ice, they’re continuing their quest toward the upcoming playoffs with determination. Off ice, they have raised nearly $200,000 for local charities.  I could go on and on about their volunteer efforts or fun nights at the arena, but I’m on a mission here. Moving on…

The North Carolina AHL team produces some pretty sick YouTube videos, including their Mic’d Up series. On May 13, 2011, Zach Boychuk’s on ice recording hit the internet and quickly became a fan favorite. You may remember Cardiac Cane put their little, slightly immature, spin on it.

Now fast forward to March 13, 2012 to when Mike Murphy debuted his Mic’d Up video. It took nearly a year, but dare I say, this is the first real competition Chuk has faced in the Mic’d Up video series?!

Hold up, let a girl defend herself before you Sutter lovers start getting chirpy in the comment box. It was a good showing by the other audio boys, but let’s face it, Boychuk set the bar a bit high. In total, Boychuk’s video was viewed 1,461 times on YouTube. Brett Sutter pulled in 837 views for his session while Justin Soryal had 817 views. The numbers speak, therefore, Murphy and Boychuk are the clear winners here.

#11 also had a second Mic’d Up air this year which brought in 908 views. How did the Checkers’ goalie compare? Murph had 3,288 watches for part one of his video and 71 for the second (which just aired today).

So, here’s their top played Mic’d Up shows. In this epic battle of roomies, who did it better? Watch the clips and vote below. May the best big mouth win..

Who had the better Mic'd up?

  • Mike Murphy (60%, 9 Votes)
  • Zach Boychuk (40%, 6 Votes)

In the event of a tie, I propose the boys do a sing-off to the tune, “I’ve Had the Time of my Life” from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack. Just a suggestion…
