Hurricanes' Tuesday Tidbits

Greetings Caniacs! It’s a day off for the Canes so let’s hope Tim Brent has recovered from the Bruce Springsteen concert he went to last night. No I am not stalking the forward. He wrote about it in his Twitter. I confess I did look for members of the team at the show with a hunch they might be there. Is it so wrong to want them to be having fun but sober, well hydrated and ready to face the Florida Panthers on Wednesday? I think not.

This Caniac misses our steady Finn Joni Pitkanen on the blueline. Can't wait to see him back in action.(Photo: Tom Szczerbowski-US PRESSWIRE)

Here are a few notes to tide you over until tomorrow:

  • Yesterday Coach Muller commented on the condition of forward Andreas Nodl who suffered a nasty hit in the contest against the Winnipeg Jets. He has been suffering concussion-like symptoms after being charged by Zach Bogosian although no diagnosis has been reported at this time. He made it to the team picture, but most certainly did not practice on Monday. I had faith in the new sheriff of player safety Brendan Shanahan at the start of this season but seeing a violent charge with a player leaving his feet not receiving supplemental discipline has greatly disappointed me. It’s the third time this season that Bogosian has avoided a Shanaban. Best wishes to Nodl for a speedy recovery no matter what is hurt. I hate to see a player leave the ice in that condition.
