NHL March Madness: Vote on Enforcer Brackets

NCAA Basketball brackets are frantically being completed as March Madness heats up Thursday. It’s always fun to spin hockey into the annual contest and this year is no different. Instead of morphing NHL playoff predictions into bracket formation, let’s pick the NHL’s top fighters. You can call them enforcers, you may call them goons, but below are sixteen of the league’s fighting major leaders (aka, Un-Sweet Sixteen) that make up the Enforce Eight.  Cardiac Cane wants you to vote on the tough guys that should move on to the Feisty Four and so on.

Player seeds were based on the number of fights (thank you HockeyFights.com for the quick info). In the case of ties, higher ranking was given to the player with more penalty minutes. The match-ups could have been done a million different ways, so don’t chirp me if you don’t like it. Feel free to leave match-up suggestions in the comment box and be sure to vote…

KP – I know that you are just creating some harmless fun but as a long time fan of hockey I’m disappointed that this post just reinforces the image of hockey as dominated by fighting.  On my blog – http://itsnotpartofthegame.blogspot.ca/ – I’ve posted the negative impacts of enfocers and fighitng on hockey and hope that others will speak up and convince the NHL to reduce or eliminate it from the game.  Although I participate in March Madness with my own bracket, I won’t be completing your NHL version.
