Icing on the Cake: Evgenii Dadonov

Evgenii Anatolievich Dadonov was born in Chelyabinsk, Russia on this day in 1989. The 23 year old winger was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the 3rd round of the 2007 NHL entry draft. The Carolina Hurricanes acquired him and A.J. Jenks in a January 18th trade for Jon Matsumoto and Mattias Lindstrom. Prior to donning a Charlotte Checkers sweater, Dadonov played in 20 contests with the San Antonio Rampage and earned 5 goals and 4 assists. He also performed in 15 games with the Panthers and claimed two goals and a helper.

He was named as a rookie to the 2010-11 All-Star Super Skills Competition for his 17 points in 36 games with Florida. He spent most of the 2009-10 season with the Rochester Americans and had an impressive 16 tallies and 23 assists in 76 showdowns.

Evgeny earned his first NHL goal against, who else, the Carolina Hurricanes on December 15th 2010. However, he had his first multi-point game against Buffalo and his first multi-goal game against the Islanders. That I can love.

The 5’11”, 185 pound forward has represented Russia in three international tournaments. His team won the bronze medal in the 2008 and 2009 World Juniors. He also won gold in the 2007 Under 18 World Junior Championships.

Currently, Dadonov has laced up for Charlotte 19 times and has a goal and 8 assists. Caniacs are excited to see what this talented player can bring to the Hurricanes’ organization. Let’s show him our support with some fabulous , absolutely ridiculous, fake presents…

  • A season ending vacation to a private beach in Egypt or Turkey as those locations are rumored to be his favorite. Of course, he can bring along all his friends and family for free.
  • I know he likes soccer, so I would love to send him to play a game for fun with some of his favorite soccer stars and catch his favorite band in concert with them afterwards.
  • He must miss his family and pals in Russia, so I’ll install a magical portal in his bedroom. All he has to do is step through it to toss a cold one back with his brother in Chelyabink.
  • A consistent stay in the NHL to prove his skill…and prove it he will as I grant him a healthy career bubbling over with success and happiness.
