News and Notes: A Day Off

After a thrilling win last night in Montreal, the Carolina Hurricanes received Valentines Day off.  Most of the Canes needed this day off due to the fast paced, hard hitting action last night against the Habs.  The Canes will return to practice Wednesday at the Raleigh Center Ice.  They will practice there tomorrow, and Thursday, before they get in their final practice before their game against San Jose on Friday.  While it was an off day, the organization was still on the go.

  • The Canes recalled Drayson Bowman from Charlotte, while reassigning Jerome Samson back to the AHL team.  Bowman has played in 17 games with the Canes this season, tallying 2 goals and 4 assists.
  • After last nights injury, per Mike Maniscalco, Tuomo Ruutu is expected to miss 3 weeks with an upper body injury.
  • Trade rumors are swirling around some of the Carolina Hurricanes.  Names mentioned so far are Tuomo Ruutu, Jaro Spacek, and Bryan Allen.  Many teams have shown interest in these players.  It will be interesting to see what happens as we inch closer and closer to the trade deadline.
  • Tim Gleason will be the guest for Canes Corner Radio at the Backyard Bistro tomorrow.  The show start at 7:00 p.m.

We here at Cardiac Cane are looking to add another staff writer to our site.  If you love hockey, especially the Canes,  and want a chance to share that passion with others please email me at [email protected] for more information.
