The NHL will be making a big announcement at Comerica Park on Thursday, and will carry over to Michigan Stadium to wrap up. Speculation on this announcement seems to be leaning towards the matchup of next years Winter Classic. Many teams have been mentioned for the game, but most have narrowed it down to two Original 6 iconic teams.
From what I have heard, the game will be played between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings. The announcement will be broadcast on the NHL Network and on NHL.com starting at 10:30 a.m. Comerica Park will more than likely be the site for fan fest for the weekend, while Michigan University, located in Ann Arbor, will be the site of the Winter Classic.
There is also a chance that this game will be the Heritage Classic, and not the Winter Classic. If the game is held at Ann Arbor, it will likely set a record for attendance at a NHL hockey game. This would also mark the first time that a Canadian team was invited to play in the fan favorite game during the New Year’s holiday.
What do you all think? Should Toronto be in the game? Let us know!
