Canes fail to convert on seven extra man advantages and give up two goals in the first and second period. Montreal outshot Carolina 16-4 after 20 minutes. Mike Cammalleri (4) and Weber (3) found the puck past Ward in the first. History only repeated itself in the second. Subban (1) increased the score to 3-0 at 6:13 into the second. At 19:21 Habs made it 4-0 with a goal from Moen (6). After 40 minutes Habs again led 16-8 with shots on goal.
Despite the score, Cam Ward made 36 saves in Wednesday’s contest. Rumor has it a broken goalie stick flew out of the Canes locker room during the second intermission. Yeah, frustrations are running high.
Canes did outshoot the Canadiens 13-4 in the final round, but no goal was made.
As for our old friend, Erik Cole, he told Chuck Kaitin he is more comfortable playing his old team in Montreal as opposed to when he heads to the Canes’ visiting locker room. Caniacs will see Cole and his Movember stauche next week at the RBC Center.
Next up on the Kitchen Nightmares’ menu…Buffalo. Canes need a change to swing in the positive, and it isn’t more line alternations. Caniacs can expect some changes on the horizon. Every point lost is a step further away from the playoffs and in the words of Twisted Sister, “We ain’t gonna take it.”
