Canes Earn More Than Win Against Pens

Saturday night’s victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins earned Carolina Hurricanes more than two points. It ended the team’s four losing streak. It showcased the talent that is the Finns and Skins’ line. It marked the return of our captain, Eric Staal with his two, er, I mean one goal and assist. It eased the worry lines atop many Caniac brows.

Jeff Skinner got the Canes on the board early with his seventh goal of the season a little over a minute into the first. Jussi Jokinen and Tomas Kaberle were credited with the assists. The Juice claimed another assist in the second period. Skinner also a couple of helpers off both of Tuomo Ruutu’s goals. Staal and LaRose found the back of the net against Pens’ goalie, Brent Johnson, to seal the Canes’ win in the third.

Although, it wasn’t always pretty. Pittsburgh managed three goals in the third and it appeared history would be repeating itself. Thank goodness, our boys didn’t give up and ended the game 5-3.

It was a huge victory against the #1 Eastern Conference team. It was a win the Canes desperately needed and it came against a worthy component. Carolina faces another commendable team Monday night when they face the Philadelphia Flyers at home. It is also Skinner Bobblehead night, so make sure you purchase those tickets Caniacs!
