Canes KILL Sabres

It may only be the fifth game of the season, but the Carolina Hurricanes made a huge win Friday night against their rivals the Buffalo Sabres. Canes killed seven power-play opportunities. To add injury to insult, Tim Brent and Brandon Sutter managed short-handed goals. Cam Ward killed 39 shots. Brandon Sutter killed the puck drops at 62%. Finally, the Skinns and Finns (Jokinen & Pitkanen) killed any chance of overtime with a goal 18:36 into the third.

The contest ended 4-3. Jay Harrison had the other goal 8:20 into the first. Vanek, Roy, and Stafford scored for Buffalo. Canes have clearly found their stride and it couldn’t have come at a better time. My only two concerns were sloppy penalties by Carolina and an injured Zac Dalpe. Dalpe was helped off the ice and did not return.

Canes return to Raleigh and practice at 11:00am at the RBC Center. Bet your caniac tail I will be there to applaud them on the ice. Let’s Go Canes!
